Three menu tracks, played one after another. Effects are separate from the music, so you can keep one and drop the other — and near a Rainbow Cat the music steps aside for its song rather than playing over it.

The game starts on Full and checks itself during your first match — if it can't hold the frame rate, it turns the glow off and tells you. Nothing here ever hides information: the monster, how far its light reaches, every ship and the whole HUD are identical on Fast and on Full.

The soft light around ships, shots and text. This is the only setting on this screen that meaningfully affects speed — measured, it is about 9 of every 22 milliseconds on a machine without graphics acceleration. It is a switch rather than a slider because it measures like one: a half-strength blur costs almost exactly what a full one does. If the game ever stutters, this is the thing to turn off.

Measured: none of these changes the frame rate by more than a fraction of a millisecond. They are here because you might want a quieter screen, not to make it faster.

How softly its search beams fade at the edge. The beam reaches exactly as far at one layer as at three, and catches you in exactly the same place.

How many times a second a match is written down so you can watch it back afterwards. It costs memory, not frame rate — the recording is a snapshot, not a second render. Best for performance: Off, then Low. Best for detail: Ultra. Standard is the default and is what every match before this used. High is the one to pick if you want to study a match for bugs — playback smooths between the frames it is given whatever you choose here, so a higher rate does not make the picture glide more, it makes the positions in it more exactly the ones the game really had. Off records nothing at all, so there will be no replay to watch.

A card telling you what a pickup does and which button uses it. It shows once per weapon or ability — levelling the same one up says nothing, since you already know both. Off means only the usual pickup message.

Dibs tells your squad a drop is yours, so they leave it. Off means you claim things by hand with the Call Dibs key.

Hold V for the order wheel, then drag toward an order to give it. Dragging ATTACK sends your squad a heading rather than a target.
Single-key orders and the squad ability have their own bindings below — they work whether or not the wheel is open.
